Swilken Bridge in St Andrews, was built in 1550, as of 2026, it is approximately 476 years old. (Though I guess there’s been plenty of repairs done in all that time.) The bridge is famously associated with golf because it is located on the Old Course at St Andrews, one of the oldest and most iconic golf courses in the world. The bridge spans the Swilken Burn.

My painting of the bridge is somewhat squint, I’m going to argue that it gives it character 🙂 The large hotel viewed from Swilken Bridge, is the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa, a luxury hotel that overlooks the 1st and 18th holes of the Old Course. It took me ages working on all the little windows, I really must develop a technique which gives the impression of windows!
